WE OFFER A SAFE SPACE FOR GROUP SESSIONS
We offer group therapy sessions for individuals struggling with mental health issues. We understand that interacting with other individuals with similar struggles in a safe space can have a significant positive effect on their well-being.
WHY GROUP THERAPY?
Group therapy helps people work through problems by interacting with a therapist and a group of individuals with similar struggles in a safe, confidential setting. In a group setting, each group member can share their personal experiences, feelings, and issues and receive feedback and support from the rest of the group. Research shows that adding a group session to individual treatment can be very effective. Check out this article by Psychology Today. We provide groups for women, teens, and children seeking additional support.
Children's GroupAges 11–13
Group therapy offers therapists an opportunity to see how kids relate to one another in a group setting. In addition, kids struggling with social anxiety, poor social skills, or inattentiveness, the group setting offers the therapist a chance to help kids work through their obstacles with other kids as they occur. Lastly, group therapy can also be a source of support for kids dealing with grief, bullying, anxiety and depression, and other mental health issues.
There are different groups available to address different issues. In general, a small group of kids working through similar stressors are placed together. Groups are typically small in size, about 8 to 10 participants depending on the nature of the group. In some cases, groups are organized by gender, but many groups focus on working through a specific issue for example, social skills, anxiety and divorce.
Teen GroupAges 14–17
Recent studies have shown a rise in teenage suicide and mood disorders like anxiety and depression. As a result, lots of research has been done to conclude that one of the causes of this rise is due to the increased use of electronic communication and digital media and a decline in sleep duration.
