About Course
New York’s Board of Regents now requires licensed mental health practitioners to complete coursework in appropriate professional boundaries. This course meets that requirement and goes further, giving you a repeatable way to think through the boundary questions that come up in real practice.
Across six self-paced modules you’ll learn exactly where New York draws the line on undue influence and exploitation, how to tell a defensible boundary crossing from a violation, and how the ACA, NASW, and AAMFT codes compare. You’ll apply the same decision framework to telehealth, social media and digital contact, and small-community practice, then leave with documentation and risk-management tools you can use the same week.
Lighthouse Mental Health Counseling Services, PLLC is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed mental health counselors. #MHC-0287. This is a self-study course; NYSED allows up to 12 of the 36 required hours in each three-year registration period to be self-study.
